Existing Socal Aircraft noise impacts

By request I created this map of existing (pre-NextGen) noise impacts from aircraft in the SoCal study area. Uses are to compare what you’re hearing against the FAA’s modeled baseline. For noise impacts due to proposed SoCal NextGen refer to : Total noise impacts Change in noise impacts Disclaimer: This map only contains those flight …

Total Aircraft noise over Population map

I’m still wading through the data the FAA team has given us. Some of my initial comments to the EA team were that we needed the noise data, waypoint coordinates and.. that it’d be nice to have the Google Earth flight track data. The feedback I got back then was that was asking too much. …

Specific Comments about RNAV and the Socal Draft EA

Specific Comments about RNAV Implementation and the Socal Metroplex Draft Environmental Assessment. The central community issue with the FAA’s implementation of RNAV flight paths is they take wide dispersed flow of aircraft paths and focus them into a concentration of flights around a centerline. The modeling needs to accurately reflect the anticipated noise impacts from the proposed changes …

Noise Impacts by Population needed

A discussion with a friend at Boston West Fair Skies makes me realize one of the areas that is missing from our EA is noise impact by population. The Boston population analysis is very impressive- and it’s only for one RNAV SID (Departure) Runway. After having mapped the DOT 4(f) noise data I perform an …

Formal Request for all Results from Noise Modeling

Modeled Noise Data results are incomplete in the Draft Environmental Assessment. The 4(f) noise data included with the EA has some interesting features, and shows trends, but its random site distribution is problematic to larger generalizations about population impacts. We need a more thorough release of the noise data. ##### Subject: Request Full Results from …
